Is there any reason that clowns and kuhlis shouldn't be kept together?

some poster on this site had kuhlis with big modesta's!
I wouldn't say that was ideal.
I am not sure that I'd put 5 inch clowns in a tank with kuhlis.

Yeah, I was thinking about how a big clown might slurp up a kuhli. My clowns are about 3" now. I have a 55 gal.

Even very large clown loaches wouldn't kill kuhli loaches, but the aquarium requirements of these 2 species are very different. Kuhli loaches would not cope well with the amount of flow that clown loaches prefer and they would get accidentally knocked about during feeding time when the clowns can be particularly boisterous.

I didn't think about the water flow. Thanks for bringing that up. I'm glad to know that clowns wouldn't harm a kuhli.
Thanks

as much as I admire and respect Emma I say you never know what a loach will do.
my little striata's rip apart shrimp and have been taking the eyes out of my hatchet fish. (It is really creepy to see a school of hatchets with almost all with one eye missing)
-as always YMWV-
clowns can get so big and khuli's stay small.

I'm sorry I have to ask this.....
What is YMWV?
I'm new to forums, so I don't know the language, yet. It took me a long time to figure out that LOL meant "laugh out loud."

Its a disclaimer. In all the car commercials when they give Miles per Gallon figures....
in the states its YMMV=Your Mileage may vary
or YMWV=Your Mileage will vary.

hahaha yipes! I have kuhli's with clowns, and oddly enough the current is their favorite place to play

They spend all their time around it and follow eachother in patterns through it. Without the current they never really did much. They don't have too much trouble eating either;) They're fiesty for little guys! I prefer dropping food bits into the plants, where only the kuhli's can reach it. That's usually quite successful.

Just for the fun of it for loachmom (and whoever else...) Here's a list of frequently used acronyms on the internet.

I try to keep a few good hidey spots in my tanks for the kuhli's. They like staying in thick mats of a seaweed type algae that gathers up in some area's in my tanks. They don't like it if I clean up all the algae mats, so I try to leave them some.

Thanks for all your replies and for the pictures.
And thanks, Shari, for the link. No more head-scratching, now!
I'm sure wasserscheu thanks you, too!
