Tried Watermelon this Past Weekend...

...and the loaches loved it! Particularly the clowns, including the Clown Plecos who rasped the slice right down to the rind.

To think, until last Saturday I had no idea watermelon floats.

Yep. It floats. We always through ours in the pool to chill it before we eat it. Floats just barely above the surface.

I think mine prefer watermelon to cucumber. The Puntius filamentosus go mad for it too.

i want to try watermelon again but at the market it seems it isn't in season right now. all i can find is cut pieces and they go bad fast.

is it safe for the other fish if the loaches are in a community tank
like tetras, platies, danios etc?

Hi,

You will probably find that your other fish will be fine and like the new treat also. That is, if the loaches will let them get a bite in. When I put treats in like peas or cucumber, all the fish are in a mad frenzy around it.
