DIY rigged background for tank
I saw a tank with a rock like background that gave me a little inspiration. So I called around and looked on the internet at the lfs's with no luck. I did a search for paving patterns, rock patterns, anything I could find on photobucket and google. Well I found one background that I liked. It was a darker grey rounded stone pattern. i made several copies of it on my printer and enlarged it to 11x17s. then taped it all together and stuck it on the background. now the fish have a rounded stone background. I have seen a few of the cory's just sit and stare at it mezmorized for hours. its hillarious. i think so far they really like it. before it was more of a colurful print of different head. its kinda creepy.. now it looks like a dark grey stone background that really contrasts with the gravel. so far the loaches seem to be playing and searching around more since I replaced the background.
I think it looks nicer than the background previously attached and it didn't cost a penny!
*EDIT* (Martin Thoene) Title edited for unnaceptable wording.

I didn't know there was a wording code to be followed on a board forum.
Didn't mean to offend! Sorry Martin!
Anyway,
for the time being it will do. If I had a banner type printer it would work but the largest I can print is an 11x17. So it is 5 or 6 11x17 pages taped together. I was looking at my european 2004 vacation pictures and was thinking of putting the Pantheon or the Accropolis in the background but I would have to stitch a bunch of pictures together in photoshop. So I just did a large size image search on google. any picture you want you can make into a background its just a matter of laminating them or covering the outside with tape to prevent water from bleeding the print. the way i see it, if it is ruined by water. i can just print another one and do it again when i am bored.
hemi, thats cool. i guess if you have nothing to do or want a new hobby you could start making backgrounds. my mother has a pottery studio and she makes most of the fish cities and such that are in my tetra aquarium. she makes natural looking plant holders and things like that. i always tell her to put them on ebay or something. my tetras love the fish city my mom made out of clay. it has holes and little hiding spots that all the fish swim through and play in. the loaches and rainbow shark like them as well. the ones she makes that i like the most look like a big pot but it has holes where you can attach plants which in turn anchors the plant down.

its not the best i had a tough time taping it to the back of the tank but it will do until i really design something cool on photoshop.
