They are begging for cucumber!(video)

Post by LoachOrgy » Sat Feb 10, 2007 8:26 pm

Well, the twin 3.5 " loaches(Vincent and Julius from Twins the movie) were out today. It has been a week and they havn't come out. I have been catching them out lately at 3am in the blue moon light. Well today, they were begging for food! The cory's started it by swimming up and down against the current of the filter system and the loaches followed. 6 of them were following the corys around and it looked like a mob of fish swimming everywhere. The tank was extra active today. Here are two videos of the two 3.5" loaches begging for food. When they start dancing up and down like crazy is when i start playing with my fingers. they seem to react to it when they want something. also, the smaller loaches were rattling the blood worm feeder to get my attention to fill it. it was quite entertaining. the longer i waited the more impatient they became! :o

at one point all of them were doing the loachy dance today. they were clicking like crazy. they still seem a little skiddish since the tank change but today seems to be the first day they are starting to act more like themselves again. they would all play follow the leader around the tank increasing and decreasing speed randomely. i made a ton of little pathways and hiding spaces. there is enough room on either side of the tank for the loaches to swim full speed from one side to the next at the length of the tank.

you may want to turn down the volume, there is loud music playing in the background.

i see the twins trying to stick their fins out right now, maybe i will get some good videos soon.

i found someone to buy this 55 gallon and i am upgrading to a 75 gallon asap. i found a few last night. i am debating the river tank design. i have one 70 jethead now but i would probably have to get another and buy the entire lighting kit and filter system on top of the price for the aquarium. right now i am thinking of using fine sand and rounded smaller pebbles for the substrate. maybe a rocky type darker greyish background as well. i am thinking of some stronger darker green plants as well as some brighter lighter greens as well for the contrast . i am probably going to go with some driftwood or bogwood with plants attached. so far the ideas are up in the air but hopefully we can get it together soon.

are there any type of filters or filtration systems that anyone suggests that work well with loaches? its a 75 gallon 48x20x18. i have an aquaclear 70 on my 55 now. it works well to keep the water clean. but i do have to manually clean the gravel bc of the pebble size. from what martin said, he doesn't vaccum his gravel much. i am hoping the addition of the sand and pebbles will prevent that as well for me. we are making room by moving one of the cpu desks into the bedroom for the time being.

I caught double O Loachy out! Double O is the alpha loach. behind Double O is George playing around and I think one of the twins is in the stump with them. Double O hasn't been running away as much lately. He will usually jet at the slightest move but at 3am lately, in the blue moon light, I have been putting my face right up to him on the tank glass. He hasn't run away as much since then.
