Very Cool Brian!
That's a lot of baby sewellia!!! Have you witnessed the actually spawning?
Actually, Shari, I was hoping MINE would be having babies like that.
I have seen them to the mating tango, but no babies yet.
Besides, I'm about 4 hours from Columbus ,Ohio where Brian is located.
But I will be going through there on my way to Cleveland in August.....Hmmmmmm.

Nice! Could you tell me about the tank setup and conditions? I´m getting 7 sewellias on tuesday and would love to see some babys here too.

Wow, you have a few Sewellia then Brian
It would be nice to know some specifics about your setup
It could be just the picture but there doesnt look like there is much flow in that tank.

Nope, I didn't bother with high flow. Just a sponge filter bubbling away in a 15g. Room temp, no heater, around 73-76. My tap water is pH 7.6 and medium hardness (230 ppm). Some rocks and wood in the back, sand up front. I feed them frozen brine shrimp and frozen mysis shrimp. When I suspect there might be fry in the tank I feed GP Larval diet from Brine Shrimp Direct. Then when I see the fry I start feeding bbs and frozen cyclopeeze. Babies everywhere! The parents and older fry don't seem to bother them at all.

How many adult males and females do you have in this tank, Brian?

Hi, there's 8 adults in there but I haven't tried to figure out the sex ratio. Too many fish, too little time!

Very interesting indeed. Not so "hillstreamy" conditions and still they go at it like rabbits

Well soon I´ll find out if theyre easy to breed or maybe you´ve got some very horny individuals.

I think a large mixed-sex group of adults may well be one of the factors that encourages them to breed. Males bickering with other males and displaying/showing off to the resident females. They are also found in large groups in the wild.
