Odd hillstream feeding behavior...

Hillstreams will often take a few weeks to adapt to eating the foods we offer them. I even had one that took four months. This, however, is the longest time I have seen one take to adapt.
I purchased a small (less than 1") gastromyzon scitulus almost two and a half years ago. The little guy always grazed algae but never seemed interested in the pellets, bloodworms or brine shrimp that the chenis, H. smithi and G. ocellatus that share his tank readily ate. He even seemed afraid of the bloodworms. Needless to say, the fish has not grown very much in that time.
However, for some reason, today the little fella was down with the chenis greedily stuffing bloodworms in his mouth. I have no idea why it took this fish so long to realize that this was food, but I guess better late than never. I suspect this fish will start putting on weight and length now that it is eating more than just algae.
