Yoyo loaches with other botia?

Post by oh look, a chicken » Sat Feb 24, 2007 6:46 pm

I have a yoyo loach which I think is really cool, after reading that he would be happier with a couple of others we went to the fish shop and got a pair of what we believed to be were also yoyos, even the guy at the shop agreed.

They ended up being a pair of Botia rostrata instead. Now I've got the three in their tank together with plenty of cover, but am wondering if they will all get along with each other? Will my yoyo hang with them?

They are a bit larger than he is but so far have just been hiding. If need be I can rehome them or possibly return them in the hopes of getting more yoyos.

Have you seen this article on B. histronica development:

There are other articles on the main site detailing development of similar loaches to help you determine what fish you may be seeing in the stores.

As for will they get along? Probably. What size is your tank?

They are in a 20 gallon, we're thinking of moving up to a 55 or a 78 before too long.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't found it. I've just started browsing in between checking my fish:) So far so good, the new pair are following the yoyo like puppies, it's pretty cute.
