Keep an eye on that Leporinus fasciatus - they don't always turn out to be as peaceful as some claim they are.

Well in the past we've had a few of them in at the shop where I work, and a short while after they were sold, they were returned because of aggession levels. And they were in tanks with big fish that can usually look after themselves too! You might be lucky and get away with it, only time will tell.

I too have heard of Leporinus's aggressive behaviour, though I have never owned one....

They also have a reputation for being phenomenal jumpers, which I have seen first hand at my local fish store. They were unpacking some leps from a shipment, and as soon as the bag was opened they started shooting into the air. There were fish all over the floor!

I think they are very cool looking fish.
But I think anything that gets a foot long with a reputation for violence might not be the best to keep w/peaceful fish.

The local "Big Al's Aquarium Warehouse" has a 10" Lep in with a couple of Silver Arawonas. The Lep got to them because he was so aggressive (although apparently he didn't get to be a problem until he was big).
