cantaloupe is a winner

stuck a largish triangular piece of cantaloupe in the clown tank yesterday.

Took about an hour before they realized it was food. The littlest one figured it out first. Then the medium, finally the big guy. Before too long he'd chased everyone else away and was hanging upside down digging away at the bottom of the piece. You could hear the 'thunk' when he bit down on it.

Was fun to watch.

Of course today when I was feeding bloodworms he decided to come right up and take a bite out of my finger (must have looked like cantaloupe)...he has some tough pharyngeal teeth! Made me jump, which of course, made him fly away...

I'll have to try some watermelon this summer. <grin>

How cute, I assume these are clowns you are speaking of? Would love to see em someday if you can get some pics.

Can't wait to try that on mine. I'll probably have to wait till it's in season.

Well Kris,
I am no genius with a camera, but here's a couple.
The biggest guy-just about 7" or so:

The medium sized guy (dolphin nose):

The littlest 4 stripe guy (who swam as soon as I clicked)
The fruit is behind him and the yucky stripes are brown algae...I know 'CLEAN THE GLASS!:

Still working on those camera skills...haven't gotten too far just yet...

It's funny that it always seems to be the littlest clown loach who braves the new food first, then the next size up, then the next size and so on. Always happens whenever I drop in some melon or cucumber.

Yeah same here lol. My small is the bravest and more curious out of the bunch. He tears up the cantelope! :D
