clowns with little tetras

I know that a few have mentioned the possibility of full grown clowns eating small tankmates, though it seems most folks here have never had any problems with clowns eating other fish tankmates. In anycase, my wife likes neon tetras and we currently have a group with out 3"-5" clowns. The tank will be upgraded to the final tank soon and I hope the clowns will be able to grow to thier max adult size. I worry about neons... cardinals suppose to get a bit bigger but havent seen them available locally. Last night I came across another favorite little fish that I had forgotten about - rummynose tetras. And I could get 20 of them for about $50 (US) not too bad. So I am really thinking about inlcuding them in my loach tank when I get it up. They are suppose to get up to 2", so anyone have any opinions if this would be a good little tankmate? Anyone have a large group with thier clowns? On another forum I am on, a fellow there (Medicineman) has a large group in his planted tank and I think they look amazing.

I'd say go for it. By now you probably know how many and what size clowns I have, and they never ever touched any of my Puntius filamentosus fry in the same tank. Many of the stories of clowns taking small fish are just scaremongering in my opinion. I've kept them for over 15 years now, and never seen anything untoward.

I'm not a pro - pretty much a newbie. But, I have had a 75 gallon tank with 2 Clown Loaches and 13-15 neons for almost two years. My CL's never bother the little guys, even when I put in their favorite brine shrimp. They all just join in the feeding frenzy - everyone gets along fine.

Yes of course I am familiar with your tank, I guess you can say its my role model I can only hope my tank turns out half as nice as yours. Scaremongering? Is that a word? LOL! But your exactly right I think. I guess too I posted hoping to stirr up any discussion about rummynoses as well, anyone have them as tank mates?
