Has anyone got any experience with this circulation pump?

Could be good for hillstreams.

Hi Janne,
I don't think these are available in UK specifications yet.
However, they are said to be similar to the Tunze Turbelle Stream pumps, but smaller. We have a Tunze Turbelle 6200 (12000 litres per hour) on our clown loach tank and it is very very powerful. I would be concerned about using these on a River Tank because they draw water in to the motor from all around the cage and create a very strong pull. This is fine for stronger swimming larger Botia, but I would be concerned about hillstream loaches becoming suctioned onto the cage and not being able to swim away. As it happens, LES.. who writes on here is in the middle of setting up a new hillstream loach tank using smaller Turbelle models (still very powerful) and has devised a way to house the pumps seprately to the main aquarium so that the hillstream loaches do not become dragged onto the cage area. We're still waiting to see exactly what he's come up with!

I was thinking about the smallest one, still 1500L/h. And yes I would have to figure out how to cover it somehow, maybe not for loaches but the shrimps would be made into food. This hobby is nice because there is a constant "what if" going on

I saw one of these in action for the first time the other day. I would have the same reservations over small fish and invertebrates. Plant debris might be a problem too.
Martin.

Yes, we have to 'de-leaf' our Tunze every couple of days.

Fantastic pump though, our clowns and barbs love it. You can move it about slightly with the magnetic holder from day to day too, so that they always receive different currents.

I have seen one in action also and I agree with Emma and Martin
