I had 2 dwarf loaches. thought one was "with eggs" because it got so fat. Found this web site, learned I needed more loaches because they are shoaling fish. Also, learned on my own that the dwarfs were gorging themselves to the point of looking pregnant. Thought that was unhealthy behavior. Went to the fish store and bought his last 3 dwarfs, now I have 5 with 2 kuhli's, 1 female betta and 5 cherry barbs, and one flying fox. Guess what.
The dwarfs usually hang out in pairs with one hanging with the fox. Sometimes they will shoal in a group of 4 with one being the fox.
Now all 5 eat like pigs but don't necessarily chum around. Everyone seems happy and healthy. Tank chem is good. No one picking on someone else. The Kuhlis "hang out" literally (on the thermometer etc.) during the day. It's like I have one big hippie commune tank. There appears to be brotherly love and everyone likes everyone else!
