If indeed a Misgurnis anguillicaudatus, then 86f is ridiculously high for them! :?

Looks just like my guys. I've never seen them grey before though hmmmm.

I'll be following your post.

From what I've read Weather loaches like cooler water and anything above low seventies shortens their lifespan.

Misgurnus anguillicaudatus is not only the most frequently exported of the 'weather loaches' but also shows the most variation in markings. But your fish also resembles slightly some of the Lepidocephalichthys species, particularly L. birmicanus. What size is this fish, hemi? I'm going to go with the M. anguillicaudatus because of the amount of barbels present.

hes a soild 5 inches total
he seems to not mind the heat in the Q tank
hes not breathing heavy
and is allready one of the most personable fish i ever had
he doesnt even run when i get close to the tank
hes eating like a pig
the Q tank is a 55 gal
he will be going into the 75gal soon
im looking at 3 more days as the 9 fish i bought have no signs of anything wrong with them
they will also all be going back into the 180gal b4 the end of the summer

in all
even if i was to try to keep a cooler tank
in the summer my coldest tank is still around 80ish +

how would someone keep the tank cool
fans didnt work
the heaters were unpluged
