Just picked two 3-4 inch very fat and happy almorhae's from a bcaquaria member. he had got them to clean up his snail problem. It would seem that enjoyed their job too well. No more snails so they got "let go".
Anyhow 3.00 each was a great bargain bringing me up to 9 yoyo's.
They are in qt now I'll post some container shot's tomorow.
Ciao
Erik

Fantastic, Erik. I can't imagine the feeding frenzy now! Nice to build on a number of the species in any collection. Maybe I should finally reorganize the tanks....

Get some video, once they're settled in, please.

Erik keeps cool loach tanks!

The yoyos here in dallas are so small. Like one inch long and around as a pencil lead. Maybe a little bigger but you get the point :D I would love to have some that size. And the price was right.

Of all the loaches I have yoyo's seem to grow the fastest by far so. All my first yoyo's (the group of 7) were less than an inch when I got them. After two years they were a little over 3 inches. The older ones are better looking.
Here's a pic of one of my older ones.

It would seem the bigger of the two has been oddly digging a hole in the corner of the tank all night. trying to get to china perhaps??

My larger male used to do that too, especially underneath of a particular piece of slate. He'd get in there and gravel would go flying out of both sides of the slate, then the other (smaller) male would try to get in and the chase would be on...Had to refill it often to keep the slate from falling over on them. 8)

Congrats on your new aquisitions, Erik! It'll be interesting to see what your 'old timers' make of them once they are introduced.
Stunning adult Yoyo pic, by the way! :D

Thanks guys.
So far I have a lot of odd behaviour. They are very active so it's been tough to get any shots.
Here is the best one so far. Notice how fat the one is . They cleaned out a 25 gallon of snails pretty quickly.
The 25's substrate looked like it was at 20% snail shells...

Hey erik, those are a couple of really nicely marked Yoyos buddy! Nice picture. That lower one seems to have several 8's on it's sides.

Thanks
I just got home to find the little bugger dug up all the plants in the tank whilst
I was at work today.
They are qt in my almost hillstreamless :( rivertank. The tank is at ambient temp , but in my basement.
The yoyo's seem to really enjoy the jacuzzi they've got in there.
I think maybe the fat one maybe female judging by the oddly think girth and very whitish silver belly. Just a guess though. Last year i had two of my yoyo's go gravid and they looked simliar in shape and patternless belly.
Erik
Ps
How's the ankle must have hurt like hell...

Look at the differences in the caudal peduncle...I'd say the fatter one is female too.
