I stopped into a Walmart today and, to my surprise found two small (1" and 1.25") Pseudogastromyzon fangi. They looked healthy and were grazing on algae in the tank. When I talked to the fish dept. guy, I was surprised to find out that they had these fish since February and I had been in the store several times since then and hadn't noticed. I am going to be putting them in the Q tank for an extended period and will probably give them a round of Maracyn 2 before they go into my Sewellia tank.

You know, now that I have these guys home in better light, I'm not exactly sure what they are.
They may, in fact be chenis. The markings are kind of intermediate between chenis and fangi, so I need to get a good look at the dorsal fin.
The problem is that they are small and the lighting at Walmart wasn't the best so I will have to let them color up and check out the dorsal to be sure. :?

One of the Walmart hillstreams unfortunately died, but the other, larger one is doing very well. I have finally gotten a look at the dorsal fin, and it is definately not a fangi. :(
However, the markings are very different than any cheni I have ever seen. Upon measuring according to the info in the species index, it appears that this fish could very well be a P. myersi. :)

So....good and bad news then :?

I wish my local Wally would come up with something interesting.

Yes, I would say good news and bad news.
I think, for the most part, finding hillstreams at Walmart in the future may be more difficult. I was under the assumption (having been told by a guy in the Walmart pet dept.) that some Walmarts would be getting hillstreams as "Fish of the Month" in May. However, all the ones I have visited have "blue lobsters" as FOTM. :(
I think Feb. was hillstream month and all I was able to get were the survivors.
