Hi
I have a coldwater tank, I currently have some weather loaches and other fish. I recentlly purchased some plants and I have a massive number of snails in my tank
Does anyone have any ideas for natural ways of getting the population down. I have some weather loaches but they don't seem to be eating them.
Any one have any ideas ?

Hi Sez. Welcome to Loaches Online.
No recommendations for other Loaches apart from the ones you keep. Personally with removing snails you could cut back on your feedings to-wards the weather loaches and see if they will devour the snails (some reports suggest so) or.... Snails love vegetable's such as lettuce, cucumber and cabbage. As such, pieces of these vegetables can be used to bait the snails and keep their numbers down. At the beginning of the evening, place a piece of vegetable in a saucer and place it at the bottom of the aquarium. Leave the aquarium lights off and after a few hours you will probably find a good number of snails in the saucer ready to be removed from the aquarium. This will not wipe out all the snails, but it should be effective in keeping their population down.

I get those one day vacation feeders and put one in at lights out and in the morning, net it and shake the snails off...works for me.
