Inquisitive yoyo loach

She is the only loach attracted to the camera. :shock:

Thanks! and yes, she is gravid.

The growth rate of these guys are unbelievable...mine reached 5 inches from 3 within 2months and she is gravid since then.quite a while(3 months ago)

interestingly, in one of the close ups, tubercules can be seen on the female yoyo. :shock:

those raised dots are sensory pores ... they surround the eyes and travel in a relatively straight line up the head. There are pics showing the difference between tubercules and sensory pores in the link below:

This is very impressive and much better than what me (and others I've talked to) got.

Here it was first from 1" to 3" in 2-3 months, and then stall, they made perhaps a single inch in the last year.

I wonder why...

Ive read there may be two different species. There is one that gets up to 8" and there are some that only get 4-5". Probably something to do with regional variations.

It looks like a very standard Yoyo female to me....but then one never knows...

She's a lovely big girl, whatever the case. 8) Wishing you the best in hopes she may find a boyfriend (or 2) to drop those eggs with. Got a mop of plants in there in case they decide to do the deed? And got a notebook and camera handy?

lol..it is funny to watch her sometimes...

She tries to stay still but end up rolling around due to her super huge belly. :D

That is a very lovely female yoyo you have. I've always loved the yoyos.

Images can be for the fish make the loveliest views of it in the water when some divers took it from the water with the special visit. Loaches are very sweet to looking most in bestessay uk under the water they spent the life of the half path.
