Emperor Botias - I thnk I Just Got Some!

I was out doing errands today and stopped by a pet shop where I usually buy my cat supplies, but not fish. Just for kicks I swung by the freshwater tanks and came across a pack of little Botia I've not see in real life before. Of course I had to have them.

The label on the tank had them as "Tiger Botia". Their noses are too pointy to be rostratas and they aren’t shaped like anything from the Syncrossus complex (though I did also bring home 2 big S. helodes or S. berdmorei…can’t tell until they color up) and the striping is all wrong for darios. To me they look most like Emma’s un-described “Emperor Botia”. If that's what they are then I scored big time. They were only $7.99 each. I got a couple of shots while they were being drip acclimated so take a look:

Neat! I've never had those in my loach tank either. It's always fun to bring home a new species for the first time.

Nice find!! 8)

I do like the Sinibotia robusta and Syncrossus helodes!! They will get on fine in the same spacious Aquarium.

I understand that both species are a bit fiesty. I hope they'll be OK in the 150g community loach tank.

Community you say? I keep my Sinibotia robusta in with Syncrossus hymenophysa and Syncrossus berdmorei and a few other nasty type loaches like Yasuhikotakia eos, Yasuhikotakia morleti in a similar sized set-up.

Which other loaches Robin?

Let's see.....

A Clown pack (with a couple of big ones in there)
3 Darios
2 Kubotai
Horseface
A Zipper
Some Kuhlis
2 Zebra Plecos
2 Clown Plecos
6 Cory Cats
An ancient Bolivian Ram
and assorted tetras

Does this mean I'm going to need a "Bastard Tank"?
