Just about finished with Aquarama (what a blast). I met up with our friend Kamphol, who tells me he has Barbucca in stock. Watch for it.

Thanks HH. I was tipped off about this a little while ago by my friend Patrick.

He knows that I'll be taking some off his hands so has provisionally reserved me a bagful.
Wish I could've gone to Aquarama, it sounds like such an awesome event.

Diabolically cool news
I've been following Matt Clarke's reports from Aquarama on the PFK site. Looks huge.

Just curious , i wonder if they will be Babucca Diabolica ? or perhaps the unidentified Babucca from Thai ?

I've been told it's
B. diabolica and that for such a small loach they are very fierce.....! (more on that when they arrive

).

Hi Emma , a few years ago i had a small group of B.Diabolica , and to be honest i cant remember much , if any aggression, mind they were in a largish tank , what i do remember though , was the beautiful red eyes , they looked somwhere between a Homoloptera and a Nemachelius, quite short in the body , but wonderful looking !

Hi all, just looked at the pic on the species gallery of B.Diabolica , and is it me or is that the Babucca sp/ that Kamphol found , and not B.Diabolicca ?no red eyes , and a bit longer in body than Diabolicca !

These are not B. diabolica, but the undescribed southeastern Thai species. I will be going down to pick some up from Patrick on Tuesday and will get pics out.

Thanks HH, Patrick had told me they were definitely the 'standard'
B. diabolica, but I really don't mind which type turn up.

Still curious though, about the pic of the supposed B.Diabolica in the species listings, is the pic, of the Thai Babucca ? its just that it looks completly different to Diabolicca ! i must add though , that the Thai fish looks really attractive, so if the Babucca sp/s get here then are they the ones that can be a little feisty ?????? only Diabolicca seemed ok !

As promised, here are the pics. Here are the results of 2 hours with this feisty chap. Note the tubercles on the caudal peduncle.
Closeup of tubercles on the caudal peduncle:
Mark, let me know if you need these for the website.

Is this species being described Bagrus?

I would hazard a guess that those tubercules come in handy during tail-slapping fights.
