what kind of loach

seen in big Al's, a very long silver color loach-- actually a whole tank of them. they are probably about 8-9 inches long and very thin. Since i was unable to get on the floor to see them closely i was not able to tell if they had any markings.
Any ideas.

If you had not mentioned 8-9" I would have hazarded a guess at
Pangio anguillaris, which can look quite silvery when unsettled in a dealer's tank.
But there's no way that get remotely that big.
Are you sure they're loaches? I can't think of anything off the top of my head that fits that description.

Coluld be Horseface loaches, but really need more of a description to be sure they are even loaches at all.

I guess i will go back to the store and see if i can find out.
There werea couple of dried up ones on the floor. They are very thin.
How big do the P Anguillaris get?
Also martin what is the water hardness and ph in Toronto??
ours in Newmarket is over 120 and 8.5

well the sign on the tank said banded kuhlis but upon further enquiring it turns out they were silver eels. mystery solved>!

hmm... just curious, how do Pangio Anguillaris differ from Pangio doriae?
