I'm Ready For My Close-Up

Post by Emma Turner » Sun Jun 24, 2007 2:39 am

It's been a while since I posted any pictures of Marge, and a few days ago she was being particularly co-operative (most probably after an extra portion of prawns. ). I managed to get a few close-ups, and here are the results:

Image

Image

The eye, suborbital spine groove, and nasal nare (please note raised 'tubercle' type bumps on her head, which I'm not convinced are just the usual sensory pores which tend to follow a line and are more apparent....).
Image

The eye, even closer.
Image

Turned on it's side for better viewing, a close up of the pores/tubercles and nasal nare.
Image

Extreme close-up of nasal nare.
Image

We'd better not tell her we've seen right up her nose!
Image

And a couple of rare shots of the very shy and reclusive Emperor Botia:

Not once have I seen these shoaling together since adding them (there are 6 in the tank). In fact, I've only ever seen 2 right out in the open at the same time - different ends of the tank.

Do you know what kind of super powers those barbels have?
super-sensitivity? electrical or heat sensitity?

Very nice pictures 8)

The one with the very close up of the eye makes me feel like she is staring at me and asking, "what are you looking at?" :D

Thanks Emma, they are amazing shots. i hope you gave her extra prawns another day as a thanks.

Graeme what did your pet insurance company say when you rang them back to say "its ok, they've come back to life again".

those emperors are very beautifull. its a shame you have both found them to be elusive

Thanks Emma. Like Tinman I didn't know that the spine is under a flap of skin. Very interesting!
