Hi there. I got 2 hillies ages ago, who are still doing well thanks to everyone here :) But I just read in a pfk from a month or two ago to keep them in 6 or more?

Any info on this?

Thanks!

Despite the fact that if you have a group of a given species one male will invariably become the boss, they lack the social structure of say, a group of Clown Loaches.

They are not a shoaling species and therefore there is no specific need for the fish to be kept as a group. However, kept singly the owner will miss out on interesting interactions between the fish and if interested in breeding them it's probably more likely if you have several.

can I mix and match types? I doubt I will ever get more of the two I have after seeing the long list that are sold under "sucking loach" lol

Yes, you can mix and match species. They all get on well.
