I picked up 4 Javanese loaches last week and they had unusual color when I brought them home. Since then 2 have taken on the usual appearance of Pangio oblonga. The other 2 still have a more mottled pattern that looks similar to Pangio piperata. One has the gold spot at the dorsal aspect of caudal peduncle that the oblonga do but it is faint. The other lacks it altogether. I know that they may still be adjusting but their behavior suggests that they are quite happy.
