Have our Golden dojo Loach laid eggs?

Hello, just a lttle over a week ago, my 5 year old son wanted a replacement for his recently deceased Betta. He liked the long wiggly ones, 'eels' he thought!, we purchased 2 loaches approx. 2.5 inches long.
One of them is a little smaller than the other and definately more pink on the underside, they seem to really love each other and are fascinating to watch, especially when being fed.
However, this morning I switched on the light in the tank, (the bubbles run all the time) and I discovered what looks like could be egg sacs? They seem attached to the side at the top, are pinkish red and long and joined in one piece which narrows between 2 fatter bits, all in probably less than an inch long?
After reading about these fish it seems we may need a different tank very soon, as the one we have is a 2 gallon hexagonal with light, which gives off a little heat and an air pump, oh, and the gravel may not be what they like best. We do have a live Java fern in there though.
We picked up these beautiful little fish from Walmart for $3.48 each.
Are we going to endanger them in this tank and can this 'dangly thing' be eggs?
