Botia kubotai

Post by Blue » Wed Jul 18, 2007 8:00 am

I was rummaging over photos and I saw this picture.:D
http://www.loaches.com/species-index/ph ... 4.jpg/view

I haven't seen records of them being bred in captivity or I may have missed them. So I am meaning to ask if this leucistic morph has been bred in captivity or simply obtained from the wild. I could not find any more details about this morph however this is a very nice fish.8) I won't be surprised if the kubs have actually been bred by inducing them with hormones just like the clowns.

Thank you for any responses. This is something new I can and want to learn.

The Botia kubotai with Leucistic colour morph is indeed a wild caught specimen from Kamphol Udomritthiruj. As far as i'm aware, they are all wild caught specimens that we see in the aquatic trade. Although i did hear that some people were considering commercially breeding these but i really doubt that at the moment.

Q: is there still a way to access the old LOL site?
(I have a vague recollection that there was an explanation to this photo, and perhaps to some others).

Thanks, Graeme. Really appreciated.:D

I did realize the kubs may not have been bred in captivity yet but I know it best to ask you than to be stuck in doubts.
