Does anybody want 3 skunk loaches, about 3 inches each. I've had them since they were babies a couple of years ago. They currently reside in a 40 gallon long with 3 yoyos.

I've recently moved and have been consolidating tanks so I'd like to give them to someone who can give them a good home. I'd be willing to drive, within reason of course, to deliver the fish

i'd take them but i'm too far away....and i wouldn't want you to ship them cause they might get stuck at the border..that would be sad

Long time, no see. Hope the move went well.

Hey Shari, the move went well....and I had no casualties

I ended up moving the fish in large (20 gallon) zip lock bags placed inside of rubber maid bins. I moved all the water I could using new 1/2 full (to avoid sloshing) 50 gallon trash barrels.....what an experience it was!!! I also moved the tanks with a few inches of water in the bottom, just enough to cover the substrate.

My tanks are now limited to a 40 gallon long and a standard 55 gallon. The 40 has 3 skunks and 3 yoyos....and they just don't play very well together

In the 55 are my original 6 (1 male, 5 female) dwarf neon rainbows and the 15 or so babies that are now 2 or 3 months old and really starting to take size. There's also a pretty large rainbow shark in the 55 that skulks around the bottom of the tank all day now that he has it to himself.

In the next couple of years we are planning to finish the basement in the new house and a large (ideally 8 ft) tank is in my future!!!

Now that I've hijacked my own thread, is anybody interested in the skunks?

Yep, an 8 footer...hopefully housing clowns!!!

Hmmmm... I would totally take them. I live in Philly at the moment. The only issue is that they'd have to be shipped, but it wouldn't be very far away. I don't have a car, so I can't drive It's up to you if that's what you'd like to do. The weather is fine, so overnight or 2 day shipping should be just fine if you can get someone to pump pure oxygen into the bags.

However, I know the risk that shipping involves, even for shorter distances. Please let me know what you'd prefer to do.

I wouldn't mind shipping them, although I haven't a clue where or how to get the bag(s) pumped with pure 02. I've never actually shipped fish anywhere.

Also, just to throw it out there....there guys are pretty feisty and even did a job on a good sized rainbow shark when they were the only 4 fish in the 40 gallon long (almost nipped all of his fins down to nothing...he has since recovered and is in a different tank now).

That's fine. My skunkies, before a mysterious epidemic took them from me, were feisty buggers. The clowns I have are very big and very protective of the smaller clowns, hence the modestas leaving them completely alone (even the baby clowns). The smaller modestas are as fiesty as a skunk would be, but they stick to themselves, too. I have a clay pot, a couple pieces of bogwood, and a great big pvc pipe for the big clowns, so hiding should be sufficient.

My water quality has been a lot healthier, though my clowns still have some freckles... Tank specs from more than a week ago:

pH: 6.4
Hardness: 306ppm
Temp.: 82F
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0

If this tank environment sounds suitable to you, that's great. I can even offer you a picture of the tank itself if that will help.

As for shipping, I moved my loaches all the way from Alaska as carry-on baggage, and we've had fish orders shipped to us from seattle to Alaska back when we had a fish store. Your best bet for pure oxygen will be either a scuba shop or the local hospital.

Let me know what you find out

Edit: Oh and if you can obtain the pure O2 (a veterinary place is a likely bet too) and go to UPS to ship them, make dead certain that they KNOW you're shipping live fish fish so they don't freeze them or turn them upside down. Threaten them if you have to to take care of the box, lol.

I was kind of leaning that way. I must be honest, I'm a little leery of shipping the little guys.

I do have a taker, but unfortunately he's not really local and I would have to ship the fish.
