usually when i see these anubias fern they run like 5-6$ each and usually aren't even a good size. i went to the new petland across the street and picked up 5 of them for 7$. killer deal! i just made a loach jungle. these are the only plants i can keep with my loaches. the java fern gets torn up after a month or two. thats the 2nd most lasting plant in my tank. the bamboo is firm enough to last but they shred it and eat it when i give them a feed break.

good find. Be patient with them, they're really slow growers esp in a low tech tank.

Good bargain, LO.
I have an anubias barteri barteri in my tank. The original leaves are tough and beautiful, and have never been bothered by the loaches. However, when the tender new shoots come up, the loaches snip holes in them--lots and lots of holes. Right now, I am doing an experiment with a pantyhose foot placed over the center of the plant where the new leaves are forming. I have it secured with a lead plant strip. Hopefully, once the leaves are opened and a little tougher, the loaches will leave them alone.
