Kuhli optimal temperature?

I recently picked up 3 P. kuhlis (maybe kuhli sumantricus - forgive my spelling on that), and I'm not sure what temperature is optimal for them. The AFM article quoted at the Loaches online page lists a lower temperature - but everything else I've read tends to lean towards 79-86 which seems to me like the generic "they're tropical fish" type of temperature.

What temp. is best and does it matter which subspecies they are?

I'm surprised how active they are - but the tank is a 29, lightly stocked, sand bottom, and very, very heavily planted.

Thanks,

Eric

Nothing above 79/26 is my preference.

I keep my Pangio's in waters of 75/24.
