The other new Sewellia - More PICS

Post by Martin Thoene » Tue Aug 07, 2007 1:31 pm

This guy finally started to come out. The other one with the funky patterns has been less easy to get more pictures of.

Gliding.......

This one is noticeable for his squiggly lines.

Every so often you take a picture that kind of makes you go, "Wow!" I think this is going to become my new wallpaper.

It's a good illustration of cryptic camouflage in a world of bubbles.
This 'spotty' looks slightly less camouflaged, but it's probably a lighting thing.

Cool! 8) How has the 'lazy old male' Sewellia lineolata reacted to these newcomers?

Well, apart from his very noticeable 'fences' he's just carrying on regardless. I've seen no interaction with any of the new ones. I've seen females accidentally bump into one of the new males or the other and kind of look suprised when they just stay rock solid where they were rather than running a mile like most of the other species do.
I've seen the big-boss Gastromyzon scitulus have the wind taken out of his sails as he gets the, "And your problem is?" treatment from the spotty and one of the lineolata I saw him confront.
The new guys are very laid-back with the other fish.

Martin.

Beautiful pictures, but the fifth one really does catch your eye, even though ironically it's a camouflage picture. The varied textures are appealing.
