I picked up my first 3
Emperor Botia's today
I have housed them in their own 25 gallon tank for now so that I can give them 4 or 5 doses of Levimasole.
This is their tank
And a couple of shots of the fish
They should look stunning when the are put with the 4 I am picking up on Friday so needless to say I am well chuffed

They may need quite a number of treatments. A good proportion of our Emperor
Botia stock have responded well to the Levamisole and have gained weight, yet there are a few others that still look far too skinny for my liking (despite regular feedings). We will persevere though!
Best of luck with your new additions MD, we'll pick you out some 'fatties' on Friday.

They really deserve their name.
So you should feel titled now as well

They have had some White midge larvae and when I released them into their tank I put a couple of pieces of bogwood in out of my rock tank in the garden and both pieces containing quite a few gammarus shrimp came out of the bogwood and they certainly enjoyed them so they are eating well.
I cant wait for my fatties on Friday

Lovely. They have such big heads although I think that's accentuated by the camera angle. Big whiskers too.

Yes, they definitely do have 'larger than normal' heads, and they also have very fleshy looking lips too. The head shape/lips remind me of my old
Sinibotia pulchra.

Brilliant!
Couldn't get any of them here, simply too rare.
A 12 inch clown loach and leptobotia sp. is easier to find compared to these guys.

They look uncannily like foreshortened (or stretched) B. dario. Or is that just the images? Either way, it's an exciting opportunity to keep such an obscure loach. Best of luck.

Funnily enough that's exactly what I thought Mark.

There certainly is a resemblance to B. dario, that was probably the first thing that struck me and the second was the size of the mouths on these things, its huge
They had a good feed on pacific krill this morning after the first dose of levimasole went in, they do look long and stretched but hopefully after a few doses of levimasole and some good feeds they will fatten up nicely
