I saw one of these in the LFS today. I thought about going and picking it up when I get off work. There was only one. Anyone know anything about these?

Thanks in advance 8)

I have no idea what it is.

Did it look like a Schistura mahnerti? http://www.loaches.com/species-index/schistura-mahnerti

I think thats it. I know you have some, you have tons of Schistura species. I read it said they were territorial. So I could get just this one and it would be fine on its on?

Yea they often can be housed on there own. It also depends on which other bottom dwelling species they are housed with. Larger different species of loaches are fine with these, they basically ignore them. Are you thinking of keeping these with Corydoras? I know you keep many different species.

I was going too, but after reading the species profile, I might have to pass on it. Although, I do have a 55 gallon with some Clowns, B. Splendens and some full grown C. agassizii and C. Aeneus. Wonder if that would be ok?

Your going to have a water temperature conflict. As well as some Corydoras species. Best leave it, in my opinion.

Yeah, I knew it was a bad idea. I went by there before I got your last reply and told myself not to get them, so I got these instead:

I saw one of these in the LFS the other day. Really nice fish. I almost talked myself into getting it for the Botia tank :D
