Loaches , Prazi and Salt

Post by kscoleman » Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:39 pm

HI, Did some reading earlier but have a few questions. I have been dealing with flukes in my tropical tank I think. Treated it with Prazi a few times and the Clown Loach has been fine. Still have the flukes so now doing Prazi 2 x rec. amount. Noticed he is hiding and not coming out to eat in the last few days. Today I was going to add my 2nd Prazi dose at the higher strength. The loach was acting weak and seemed almost dead so I moved him to a q-tank with 1/2 old tank water and 1/2 fresh and some rocks from the main tank. I did add 1 Tab. salt to the 5 gal. tank. He is upright now and looks better but I need him in a better tank so I set up a 20 gal. and added some Biospira to jump start the cycle. I am sure the 5 gal. is going to have ammonia in it real soon and I want to move him one more time. Since neither tank is cycled I am concerned of stressing him further.
1. Salt or not and how much if so?
2. Contnue Prazi at regular dose or 1/2 strength? I'd like to make sure the flukes are gone so I can put him back in the 125 gal. I'm planning on treating every 3 days with Prazi for 2 weeks to clear my big tank.
3. I lost his CL buddy about 2 weeks ago- got stuck in a decoration I think, not from the flukes. Seemed lonely and less active since his buddy is gone. Do they really care? I do want to get 3-4 more so will def do a Q-tank with some of the recommendations I was reading here. Any suggestions welcome. They have a great personality!
