Hi All,
Just got the Nov. issue of Tropical Fish Hobbyist and there is a feature article on loaches. Nice article by Stan Sung who speaks briefly about collecting in the wild. Also sites www.loaches.com.

Yes, the moderation team were aware of this because the editor of our book (Loaches) at TFH informed Mark Macdonald about Stan Sung's article. We don't know if the timing of the articles has anything to do with the publication of the book (now gone to print), but this is the first of a 3-part article to be published in the following issues.

I saw this today in Petsmart. Had a quick fly-through skim read and it looks pretty darned good to me. There's a whole section just on LOL and he particularly likes my Pictorial Species Index :P The piece on LOL is actrually a hugely good advert.... full of praise.

Points of note:

Specific mention of keeping loaches in species groups.

Well illustrated with some pics showing Botia rostrata marking differences.

On a quick read (I didn't buy it) I would say it's excellently researched (probably about a mouse click from here) and well written. I would call it rather fortuitous timing by TFH Image

Part 2 in December issue, Part 3 to follow.

Just picked it up today but haven't had a chance to read it.
As Martin said, it looks pretty good.

Quickly,
i occasionally ask non-loach related questions on other fora and always come back to LOL.
Better/smarter responses and very rarely does nobody answer, no matter how esoteric or rediculous my question is. I come here for catfish or knifefish questions even when there are dedicated collector sites.

I'm off loaches since last X-mass's disappointments and this remains my site of choice. This is the highest quality, friendliest, most creative, most honest, most attended and most generally comfortable fish site (read: community) i've seen.

Very well done all. You've managed to cultivate the best in global on-line knowledge and comradery to keep this group exceptionally useful.

Thanks for your efforts. The fish mag. ref is well deserved.

Thanks very much for your kind comments andy. This site has been extremely lucky in attracting some truly knowledgeable people that happen to also be truly nice people too. This helps tremendously with the community spirit we try so hard to keep going.

I agree with Andy. I used to participate in a local forum but conversations there couldn't hold a candle to these.

This community, despite having a smaller number, is actually more active and healthy.

More power to LOL!

Good timing! Glad I read the forum thoroughly before I rushed and posted this, lol. Saw the new TFH at Petsmart today and was pleased and surprised by this discovery- I was pretty sure that Martin or Mark knew about it- now I'm really sure! It is a nice piece, and will be an excellent series to lead into the book launch :D

Darn it Kate! Now someone's missed a chance to send you one of those "Nananeenana.....we're already talking about it here...." type posts.

Spoiler

The article in TFH is excellent. They even detail different species with
aggression level, size, etc. Worth buying the magazine just for this article
(I suscribe anyway). If you do buy THF write the editors about it. Hey, maybe we can convince them to feature loaches more often, even (gasp) an occasional guest column.

Just my $0.02
