Funny Observation Kuhli and Horse Faced Loaches

This morning I was feeding my fish in my grow out tank. This tank contains all my very small fish and fry. I have two Kuhli loaches who are about 2 inches, 1 2-inch Horse Faced loach, 4 1-inch HFL, a bunch of guppy fry, some ghost shrimp for clean up and a few snails breeding to feed loaches and puffers in other tanks.
This morning I watched my black Kuhli happily munching on a shrimp pellet bigger than his head. He didn't want to share with anyone. All the Horses were interested in his pellet (even though there were more pellets and flake). The Kuhli kept grabbing it in his mouth and shaking it to get little pieces and move it away from his Horsie competition. Then all of a sudden a ghost shrimp hanging from some Java moss above the Kuhli Loach did a -Mission Impossible- stunt, did some cool repelling, grabed the entire shrimp pellet from above the Kuhli and pulled it up into the Java Moss. Grabbed a bit with his front claws and dropped it. The entire time the Kuhli was looking around for the shrimp pellet which from his perspective looked like it just flew into the water column. You could almost see the puzzled look on his face. I couldn't believe the shrimp could pull the pellet from the Kuhli's mouth. The pellet was huge compared to the shrimp and the Kuhli.
Why watch TV when you have fish?
