Yup, only 6. Pixels are highly over rated and should be the last thing to consider in a camera. Here is an example I took using Extreme macro and 6MP. I was within an inch or so from the Damsel Fly. It was night so he was stunned by the nightlights and he allowed me to get very close.

Very nice detail. My camera is 3.2 mega pixel and I can't get anything even remotely close to the quality of those shots.

I'd assume he was using a macro lense correct?
Like he said its not about mega pixels. My 3.2 MP can get decent close ups even with no macro feature,
like this and that camera already has 3 newer versions out. But if I add the macro lense that would make a huge difference for under $100, as I would be able to get several times more magnification.
