ICH that won't go away

Post by lechar » Tue Oct 16, 2007 9:08 pm

my fish got ich a couple of weeks ago, i raised the tank temp and treated with ich meds, all the fish got better within a few days and are as happy as larry now, but my 2 loaches are still covered in spots, lethargic and not looking good. i have contiuned treatment but with no improvement to the loahces, whilst all the other fish are fine now. any ideas what to do? or why the loaches arn't gettting better?

What kind of water changes have you been doing while medicating? What size tank? How high did the temperature get during your treatment? What medication did you use?

What loaches do you have?

More details:
(live in Australia so only know our metric measurements)
70L Tank
Increased temp to 27 degree celcius
2 Clown Loaches (2 yrs old)
Treated with "ickaway" - active ingredients malachite green and acriflavine
Doing about 30-40% water changes weekly.

I would increase the water changes. The more frequently you can vacuum the floor of the tank the more Ich you are removing from the system. There will be fewer Ich to re-infest the fish. A daily WC with vac would help a lot, and might cure the Ich even without meds.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

loaches have skin like us unlike normal fish it might just take longer.

i have had good luck with the medicine "quick cure" if you need me to ill go to the store and buy you some if you dont have it in Astralia. all you need to do is give me your addres and ill try my best to mail you some. I live in the US so the mesuerments on the back of the tube are in drops per gallon so if you can convert that into leaters. but i will be more than happy to ship you some.

thank you
