Loach/community

Post by Ashleigh » Wed Oct 24, 2007 7:07 am

The loach/community tank, this is the main tank I love to watch in the evening; its so busy and everything is so relaxed :D
The tank itself is 4x1.25x1.5 approx, it was an old stock tank so please bear with me on the scratch marks on the glass  The tank itself is quite well planted; java moss, java fern, grasses and floating plants, bogwood has a good lot of moss growing over it. Amond leaves added on a monthly basis, left to 'decay' on the tank floor-the Pangio sp love to forage through them.
The stock;
10 Puntius titteya
1 Galaxy rasbora - 10more on order
6 Chili rasbora - anyone have a name for this??
1 Beta in a little 'floating prision' till his fins heal *incapable fishstores
3 Acantopsis choirorhynchus
3 Pangio kuhlii
2 Barbucca diabolica
5 Pangio oblonga
5 Pangio sp
5 Vaillantella cinnamomea
5 Vaillantella maassi
2 Corydoras aeneus
1 Unidentified cory species
1 Epalzeorhynchos bicolor
Pictures of the tank to follow these later, but heres a few of the stock that let me take a few

Is this loach full of eggs?:? I've never seen such a full abdomen.

Your rasbora is probably a Boraras brigittae.

Very nice indeed! 8)

Those kuhlis look like the Pangio sp. 'panda' that I documented here a while back as becoming extremely gravid: http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=7352. Would make a good breeding project in a species only tank (if only there were room here).

Hi Ashleigh the fish look great :D

The "Chili Rasboras" are Rasbora urophthalma brigittae which are now Boraras brigittae

Nice pics. I bet the Epalzeorhynchos bicolor likes those almond leaves too, doesnt he? I remember mine use to eat decaying plant leaves in my aquarium.

Clowns-6 is a group and more is never too many, providing the aquarium is large enough.

hi ashleigh
i'd watch the shark when it gets a bit bigger, they have a reputation for behaving badly towards their inmates.
ive had first hand experience on the few occasions that i had them.
marks spot on with his ID of the rasbora .

the pangio is the one me and my mate had a few years ago, keep hold of it it's a rarity, we could never find the true name for it.

regards
mick

Very nice pictures.

If you post a picture of the unidentified Corydoras, we might be able to help you identify it :)
