I bought 35 Cardinals today to form a nice shoal in our 6 foot tank. They are wild-caught and included an odd-ball tetra which was thrown in for free. Anybody got any idea what it might be?
Also picked up these cute as a button Panda Corys.

Here is my guess. Does your fish have a thread-like extension on the anal fin? It only shows up in some pics.
The picture at Fish Base is badly washed out.

I would hazard a guess at one of the unientified Moenkhausia species looking at the face, I have seen pics of a very similar fish labelled as Moenkhausia sp "Rio Suia Missu".
Lovely looking fish regardless

No, definitely not that one.
The Axelrod Mini Atlas shows
Moenkhausia copei on page 352 which is a very good match assuming the ID is correct.
It's a very pretty fish and is shoaling with the Cardinals.

hi Martin, here's your ID for this fish bud.
Moenkhausia colletti, i bred this fish in the late 90s and was the first to breed them.

Couple of new pictures.
Likely to be getting more of these as Harold ordered some thanks to your ID Mick.
