I bought 35 Cardinals today to form a nice shoal in our 6 foot tank. They are wild-caught and included an odd-ball tetra which was thrown in for free. Anybody got any idea what it might be?

Also picked up these cute as a button Panda Corys.

Here is my guess. Does your fish have a thread-like extension on the anal fin? It only shows up in some pics.

The picture at Fish Base is badly washed out.

I would hazard a guess at one of the unientified Moenkhausia species looking at the face, I have seen pics of a very similar fish labelled as Moenkhausia sp "Rio Suia Missu".

Lovely looking fish regardless :)

No, definitely not that one.

The Axelrod Mini Atlas shows Moenkhausia copei on page 352 which is a very good match assuming the ID is correct.

It's a very pretty fish and is shoaling with the Cardinals.
