I would like to know your opinion about Breeder's Award Program (BAP). Surely loaches are hard to spawn, but I mean all other fishes also, not loaches exclusively.

Is BAP popular in your region/club?
Does BAP help to promote aquaristics?
....
any your comments on this topic, please.

I know of a few clubs that do run BAP's as do most of the species specific associations/groups, I think it is a good idea and promotes correct husbandry ect :D

My club, The Kitchener-Waterloo Aquarium Society www.kwas.ca
does promote the BAP program with forms and a directory here http://www.kwas.ca/downloads.htm
BAP certificates are awarded at our monthly meetings as members earn them.

Some try to get to the various levels by keeping and breeding various species of fish to achieve a goal.
Others, like myself, do accidental breeding and just record them when they happen, I don't have a level that I am trying to achieve, I just put up my BAP certificates on the wall

It does give others in the club an opportunity to acquire and breed more species, since in our club, you have to sell a bag of fry at one of our monthly meeting auctions as one of the requirements to get your BAP certificate for the species that spawned for you.

Others feel that a BAP program encourages people to breed and dump fish and move on to the next with out really seeing how the fish develop and change as they grow up.

Checking the Breeders directory for your club may help you connect with someone if you are looking for stock or breeding tips. Most active clubs in Canada submit their BAP activity to a national BAP registry maintained by the Canadian Association of Aquarium Clubs here: http://www.caoac.ca/breederdir.html

Hope this helps :)

Well, no bonus, just being first in the register and a highlight in the CAOAC newsletter to announce the first recorded spawning for a particular species.
Some people work at spawning a particular species for years that has not yet been recorded.
I don't have the patience, but a lot of hobbyists I know do spend the time :)
Then others want the details so they can do it right
