I have heard salt is bad for plants, but I have also heard it is good for plants. Im going to get plantes within the week and I was wondering if I should add some salt; for the fishs benefit.

Thankyou, Kelly

I'd quarantine the plants for a while... My cyano came in on plants and is now making my life hell...

As for salt, in low conc it's fine if its strong enough to crank up your plants it'll probably also crank up your fish too...

Also use aquarium salt... just in case you were eyeing up your table salt...

Do not use table salt or aquarium salt in a fresh water aquarium, with plants or fish. Not needed.
Plants do not need sodium chloride added to the water.
Fish that thrive with some salt added are mostly livebearers, and even for them salt is optional, not a requirement.

As Diana says, don't use salt. I don't know of a planted tank enthusiast that uses salt in their aquascapes.
