fish & consipation

Post by robinson230 » Sun Mar 29, 2009 1:00 pm

:) Hi guys just a quick question, being fantail fancy fish are prone to consipation due to their short bodies. Should I feed them boiled pea as part of their balanced diet? If so how many peas & how manys times a week?

Peas and other vegetables are very good to feed to Goldfish of all sorts, and to many other fish.

I start with frozen peas, defrost them then pop them out of their skin.
I would feed fancy golds about:
1/2 pea to a 1" fish
1 pea per 2" fish
and several peas to larger fish.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

 wow there defo more to fish then people know, when I was a child too long ago I had goldfish & could keep them alive! I am learning why know, poor thing weren't in right enviroment at all.
My fish I've had for a full 3 mths! & they are the same ones, I've broke a record! I am pleased to know I'm looking after them right, which makes caring for them even more great, know I couldn't live with out them. I do wish that pets shops also had a basic leaflet with a few golden rules to get people to start of as they me to go on, & not just put them in bowls & hope for best. While in a fish I over heard a woman saying why are my fish dieing to the guy in shop, he said what fish have you got, she had 5 koi, 2 were died, wait for the real shocker:, in a tank!! Poor things.
Thanks for advice about the peas, very grateful. :)
