Hi I hope someone could advise me?
Today my fancy goldfish stuck in between a silk plant, it has quite badly damaged his caudal fin & also slightly damaged its dorsal fin, I have now seen on the dorsal fin nearest the caudal fin it has one blood line. However it is eating & swimmimg but slower & not as cheeky as he usually is!
Could anyone advise me on what this means for the fish & what I can do to help recover?
I have added a general tonic for fish, in the hope it will prevent fin rot & so on.
If there anything else I could do I would be grateful.
Thanks

Forget what you THINK you know, & consider what could be?
Keep up the water changes so the nitrogen (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) is as low as possible. Gravel vac so that excess organic matter is removed.
Several fish diseases seem more active when nitrates and organic matter is higher in the tank.
If you do need to medicate some medicines are less effective with high organic matter.
Plenty of water movement for high oxygen is important, but if the fish is having a hard time swimming then you may want to move the filter outlet or whatever is needed so there is a calm area, too.
Golds are highly tolerant of salt, and it can help stressed fish. If the other fish in the tank are also tolerant to salt you could add up to 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons each day for 3 days. This would make the total dose 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. This is not so good for live plants, or salt sensitive fish, though.
As long as the red area just looks like a cut this can heal. If the red is streaking under the skin then this suggests a bacterial infection, and antibiotics are the best way to treat this. If the fish is still eating then food with antibiotics is good. There are also antibiotics you add to the water and the fish will take it in through the gills.

38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.
Happy fish keeping!

Hi there thanks.
The bloodline isn't on body it on fin, he looks way more active today, but the tail fin is quite badly damaged.
I do does 50% water changes waterly & use gravel cleaner, I also have x2 turbo air pumps they seem to love!
I have also checked water & all levels are spot on.
I will keep close on him & see how goes if required will get the required medications.
Thanks a lot for advice, I was feeling quite up set to see him going through wars, fingers cross he will be fine.
I have also removed the demon silk plant lol
