Has anyone ever used Durvet brand Levamisole?
If it will do the job of curing my fishes, I will be picking some up this weekend.

I have another problem. I have a 10 gallon tank and a 5.5. The Levamisole dosage calculator says I will need .019 Tsp for the ten gallon and .01 tsp for the 5.5 gallon. Has anyone figured out any tricks for getting this small of a dosage? I think it would be quite weird to try to halve the amount of powder over and over until I have the right amount. Plus, I don't have a gram scale. What do you guys do to get the correct dosage?

Ok I've come up with a plan for dosing my tanks. Could someone who knows what they are doing double check my math.
The smallest readily available unit of measure I have is a 1/8 tsp. So the question is how many cc's will I need add to the 1/8tsp of levamisole to create a 1cc per 1 gallon dosage.
According to chiefkeith's calculator, 18.925 tsp are needed per 10,000 gallons.
Code: Select all
1gal 1cc 66cc
------------ = ------------ = -------
.0018925tsp .0018925tsp .125tsp
So, according to my calculations, I will need to add 66cc's to each 1/8tsp to create a 1cc per gallon dosage.
What do you guys think? Is this math correct?

Just use the stock solution calculator.
Enter the amount of stock solution. (I use bottled water which is 500 ml's as a starting point)
Enter the dosage size you want (1 tablespoon = 14.79 ml's)
Then enter how much water each dosage should treat. (10 gallons)
If 1/8 of a teaspoon is the smallest measurement unit you have, then you could reduce the amount to stock solution to 100 ml's.
Just put about 1/2 cup of water into the 500 ml water bottle (1/2 cup = 118 ml's). The water measurements don't need to be super precise.

I entered 66mL as the stock size, 1mL as the dosage size and 1 gallon as the amount to be treated. It told me that I should add .124 tsp of levamisole to 66mL. I was pretty close!

How long is a dosing solution good for? Can I save it from one time to the next if I am doing a series of doses or should I remake it every time?

Great job!
The solution should be good for a few months if it's refrigerated.

LOL I'm just glad that I can do the math still!
I'm glad it can be kept in the fridge, I would hate to have to make up a special batch for each dose. I'll just remake it each time I do a cycle.
Thanks!
Oh here is a link to the Levamisole I was looking to buy over the net. Does this look alright?
