I saw these recently at PETSMART and they're very cheap! I would like to get one and was hoping for some feedback and advice on it's use. I'm thinking about using it intermittently on several different tanks. I'd run it on the Q-tank as a preventative measure and likely on my other tanks as well. Does this sound feasible? Thanks for your help!!

I have 2 of them, and so far they have worked just fine for me.
One of them cleared up some Ich on some Cardinal Tetras, the other stopped some Flex in a mixed tank. (Water changes were also done, but no other meds)
I have one of them running right now on a Q-tank. Fish store had some Ich, and I think the tanks are run in common.

What do these cost?
A typical UV sterilizer in the 9 watt range runs about $80-120 US and that's before you add the pump.

Thanks Diana! I was a little leary due to the low price and unfamiliar name, it's good to hear from someone who is using one.
Jim, I don't remember for sure but it was somewhere in the $40 range. and the pump is part of the unit. I'm going to pick one up this week.

I have one, but be very careful how you arrange it, so water doesn't flow into the pump. I think I killed mine. I need to get another. I really liked the results, and I had fish recover from mystery illness when I installed it. It did the same thing you plan to do and moved it from tank to tank.

Also keep in mind that the bulbs have to be replaced either once or twice a year depending on type.

Thanks for that S.S., I'll be careful.
I found this site in my search. There's lots of info about the use of UV and this guy has a different opinion of the G.K.M., but he's selling another model so??? I still think I'll get one though the via aqua unit looks pretty good for a bit more money.

I checked them out today. Looks like a great deal at $40 per unit.
I already have two Turbo Twists 9W and am very pleased with them, but may consider one of these if I need another UV in the future.

I just got a 24w today at my local Petsmart, priced the same as online, $60. They were out of the 9w if they normally carry them.
