Aggressive, yes?
Too much so as to live with relatively bloodthirsty set of angels?
I ask as the local shop has a dozen small (2- 2.5cm) animals look fairly healthy -though a bit skinny- with good vigor, but expensive at equiv of about 20 bucks US per.
Advise/experience?

nor with Clowns, I have both. Modesta are very aggressive in spurts and do much better in groups or with S. beauforti.....
They will tear up your Angels I would think besides the flow issues and water requirements being different
I have 10 Modesta or so solo in a specie specific set up and mature Modesta with mature Beauforti in one of my large tanks
Modesta do not do well with more aggressive Syncrossus and beat up my mature Almorhae after growing up together in harmony so they are bullys but not too tough really.....
