I ordered these last week and they arrived today. I am very happy with these. I recieved 24 .I have these as helodes . Does the forum agree? I have ordered 24 more for next week too.....wahoo


Here are the Darios I got last week .These where not so good,some paper thin upon arrival and eight have passed but the rest reacted well to the levimosal and are very active and eating well. I will lose a few more I think but we will see. I have one soaking in a coppersafe bath as it is in bad shape and needs drastic measures but the others left are looking well. They are pic'd here

Hi Tinman Love those Dario's they look like the yellow variety ! i.e. slim dark vertical bands over a wonderful golden yellow base

One tank, plus the two larger ones already there will stay for an even 50 if they all survive.

I am using the one fish per gallon rule. These 50 will all be in a 55 gallon 4 foot tank This is a high density population.

I added these directly into the tank designed for them as there where only two in the tank and the risk to the group is greater than to the two existing fish........ but I isolated this from my system by valves and will do daily water changes manually with water from my system until such a time I am comfortable returning this tank to the system ......I have the ability to re-arrange these to a larger tank should the need arise but we will see. I do not intend to for some time, although full grown may push these into a 6 foot tank with my 15 Blues possibly.

I was enamored with Emma and Steve's grrr tank at the shop and have been preparing for this since 15 seconds after seeing that tank and about 3 seconds after getting up off the floor. Those of you that shop there know the tank I belive and if not here is a pic.I will be about half the fishload of this so not as cool but close enough for me and long term health imo

I like them myself also but we do not have a huge selection as you do . I bought these sight un seen and picked them up upon arrival from the airport so I was excited they are so colorful...but they all or most where terrible skinny.We will see. I purchased 24 of these and have about 10-14 left or looking decent.Fingers crossed here on these. The Helodes looked great though

i hope they all do well under your care, Tinman it is sad when they are so skinny, but you know that you will achieve good with them. Mark is not the only envious one.

Wow.... are you going to name them all? I know the helodes get pretty big, but that takes some time. I only have one at the moment (named it Wiggles) because I doubt it will tolerate another of its kind despite the hiding places I have.

My tank is currently semi-grrr because I have 12 clowns that sometimes in-fight, the helodes, and 4 modestas that also in-fight. I've been trying to ease up the aggression with more caves and plants.

But just looking at that one grr tank.... that's a lot of fish.

Yes. I am adding bogwood in all my tanks and slowly removing rocks. Two are done and this one is next.I will not let them have hidey holes until after qt to catch any issues immediatly with a substantial investment at stake. I stock substantially more than all the stores in the area combined btw.

no ,I only named one ,Tinman my huge knife and my three large Clowns are left spot,right spot and no spot just to distinguish them. I have several hundred fish so naming them is not on the list, heck I just try to feed them all and remember how many to watch fer problems

I hate that. I hesitate to say to much about mine because I do not want to seem a show off about this collection. I take them very serious and 30 years of collecting has led me to know what I want and like so this is a lifes work that only my friends here understand and appreciate. I could not nor would have gotten here without all the info I learned from you all my fish friends on LOL. I have made huge strides in understanding this last year and hope to save others from mistakes by learning from mine. I am very blessed and lucky to have a partner that likes them although doesn't help by choice.

but hope the large numbers give cover to the lower classmen,safety in numbers like African chiclids me thinks....we will see.


Thank You all for the support. I am excited and giddy about this .I may not sleep upstairs this week choosing just to sit and stare between maintenance duties
