B.Striata´s "throat" markings

Post by wasserscheu » Sun Feb 24, 2008 5:49 pm

I was surprised when accidentally finding those markings on their "throat", I remeber this area being white (no markings), and seeing their heart pump (between the fins), when I put them in in October 2007 ... just curious ... looks like part of their pattern change, while maturing.

Yeah, that is very interesting. I dont think I have ever payed any attention to that.

How many B. Striata do you have? I hope to get a nice sized group in the next month or so.

got 9, not large about between 2" and some a bit more. They grow slower than the clowns in the same tank, some of them I got pretty worn down, they have stabilzed after a month. The are a group of 3 "shipments" 1/10(-4)/2=9 The smallest one in theb group is the smartest though (bought it out of tank with "grrr-tigers" where he was the only Striata in there - guess that made it street-smart ...

Stunning pics ,Striata really are variable , its always nice to see them , i always remember seeing a tank full of Striata in the eighties and their pattern was like a network of broken veins , and that was a tank full of them ,not one of them had the conventional candy striped pattern that we see mostly ! there are one or two pics here at Lol of oddly marked specimens , but this was a tank full of about a hundred broken lined Striatas FANTASTIC ! i've never forgot that tank , and never seen Striatas like that since , BUT i live in hope .
