One lone CL in the corner

Post by Boomer » Tue Feb 26, 2008 7:29 pm

Just a quick question. I still have my 6 CL in QT (still no ich to speak of), but have noted something that I wanted to ask about.

The last two days I have noticed that five wedge themself under the wood, while one stays at the opposite end of the tank....he/she is no smaller/thinner etc then any other.

Has he/she been shunned or forced to be a sitting duck?

Like I said, literally, there is no differance between this one and the others - not even with behaviour (fattening up like the others, going after food without unusual competetion for food, no laboured breathing, same bright colour etc etc).

I think it's nothing to worry about, but you may want to extend the QT time for an extra week - just to be very safe. It's conceivable - not likely, but possible - that there is reason for concern. And if there happens to be something amiss with this one loach, it's possible that the others may be at risk.

Meanwhile, you are doing the right thing. Good on you!

I had planned on keeping them in there for another 2 weeks..in case the ich is just waiting for me.....

When I just checked on them, the CL in question was in the corner, then swam underneath the log with the gang...and he/she wasn't ousted out...so it may be by choice...I hope.

Besides, I swear they have grown in "girth" since I brought them home.

ya sorry you said, literally, that there was no difference between the one and the others except for sleeping spot.
But literally we need to know what behaviour is happening...or not happening.
In your second post you did, thanks.
