Life Span

Post by DES » Sat Mar 01, 2008 11:31 pm

I currently keep botia striata and botia almorhae and I was wondering if someone could please tell me what their expected life span in the home aquaria should be. Thanks.

If you keep them in good surroundings/condition, you're looking at well over ten years. I hope that other posters can extend this record. Some Botiid and some Cobitid species - namely the Kuhli loaches - can live for decades.

The potential is in the care.

Thanks, Mark. I do try my best to provide a good home for my fish, with lots of water changes and a varied diet. I currently have my loaches in a 40 gallon breeder (5 striata and 3 yoyos with a school of danios). Do you think this is adequate or do I need an upgrade?
