I digress.
As this tank is intended to be a biotope tank for my B. striata I started researching for fish that may come from the same locality, no easy task and I'm still not certain. Anyhow, I came across the following website:
http://ces.iisc.ernet.in/hpg/envis/sdev/e_status.htm#2
Searching through the table it states that Botia striata is endangered! I have no idea how current the research is on this, but it does make me sad nonetheless. It did make interesting reading though.
Now my biotope question. Does anybody have any idea what fish are found in the same locality as B. striata? I'm planning to have the tank as a fast flowing tank (not likely river-tank though). The decor will be mostly locally sourced river stones that are rounded in nature over a sand substrate. There will be plenty of wood added, possibly of the sumatra type so that it doesn't displace too much water volume, and it will be sparsely planted. I'm looking for fish that will mostly occupy the upper strata of the tank. If at all possible I would like another suitable loach species, but I haven't properly worked out the stocking levels yet. In fact I may not be able to until I've decorated the tank and determined the actual water volume left.
Thanks
